Product Warranty

Last updated: 13 August 2026

This document explains our voluntary product warranty. It is in addition to your statutory rights and does not replace, reduce or exclude them. A Consumer may have legal rights against the seller where Goods are faulty, not of satisfactory quality, not fit for a qualifying purpose or not as described, whether or not a voluntary warranty applies.

For statutory-return and remedy information, please see our Returns & Refunds Policy and Terms of Sale.

Register Warranty

1. Standard voluntary warranty period

Unless a product page or written warranty statement clearly states a different period, new eligible physical Goods supplied by ETECH TOOLS carry a 12-month voluntary warranty from the date of original purchase against manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship.

Graded, refurbished, ex-display, clearance or specially identified products may have different voluntary warranty terms where those terms are clearly disclosed before purchase. Mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected.

2. Registration and proof of purchase

We recommend completing our online Registration Form promptly after purchase because registration can help us identify the product, serial number and warranty history.

Failure to register within a particular number of days does not remove statutory rights and will not by itself invalidate this voluntary warranty where the eligible purchase and warranty period can otherwise be reasonably verified.

We may ask for reasonable proof of purchase, Order Number, serial number and other information needed to establish warranty eligibility.

3. What the voluntary warranty covers

Subject to this policy, the voluntary warranty covers a manufacturing defect in an eligible physical product arising from defective materials, components or workmanship during the applicable warranty period.

Where a valid warranty claim is established, the remedy under this voluntary warranty will normally be, at our reasonable option:

  • repair of the product;
  • replacement with the same product or a functionally equivalent product; or
  • where repair or replacement is not reasonably available or economical, another appropriate remedy which may include a refund or credit.

This voluntary-warranty remedy does not restrict a different remedy that a Consumer is legally entitled to require under mandatory law.

4. What the voluntary warranty does not cover

To the extent permitted by law, the voluntary warranty does not cover a problem caused by circumstances other than an inherent manufacturing defect, including:

  • accidental damage, impact, crushing, liquid ingress, contamination, corrosion, fire or adverse environmental conditions;
  • normal wear and tear or deterioration through normal use;
  • cosmetic marks, scratches, dents or packaging damage that do not affect function, unless the condition itself gives rise to a statutory right;
  • consumable or wear items that have simply reached the end of their normal service life;
  • damage caused by incorrect cleaning, storage or maintenance;
  • misuse, abuse, neglect, use outside the stated specification or failure to follow instructions;
  • incorrect voltage, unstable power, poor grounding, damaged vehicle wiring, interrupted programming or other unsuitable workshop conditions;
  • use of unauthorised, corrupted, incompatible or modified software, firmware, calibration files, cables, accessories or power supplies;
  • an unauthorised modification or attempted repair where that act caused the fault, worsened it or materially prevents reliable diagnosis;
  • loss of, or inability to use, a third-party account, server, subscription, manufacturer service or online function where the cause is outside the supplied product and outside our contractual responsibility;
  • vehicle, ECU, network, protocol or software incompatibility where the product was accurately described and we did not specifically confirm the unsupported requirement;
  • the customer's vehicle or other equipment being faulty, damaged or incorrectly configured;
  • theft, loss or loss of access credentials caused after delivery; or
  • use for an unlawful or unauthorised purpose.

A cable, connector, charger, display or other component is not excluded merely because it is an accessory or wear-prone item: a genuine manufacturing defect in an eligible supplied component may still be covered during the applicable period.

Transit damage, wrong-item supply or a defect existing at delivery should be reported promptly under our Returns & Refunds Policy. Treating such an issue outside this voluntary warranty does not reduce any statutory right.

5. Diagnostic, coding and programming risks

Diagnostic, coding, key-programming, ECU, immobiliser, calibration and similar equipment can make material changes to vehicle systems. Programming may fail because of vehicle condition, voltage interruption, network or server failure, wrong files, incompatible software, user error or other factors that are not a defect in the supplied tool.

You must follow manufacturer instructions, use stable power, confirm correct files and procedures, maintain appropriate backups and ensure that the operation is lawful and authorised.

Technical support or general guidance does not mean that ETECH TOOLS takes control of your vehicle, ECU or programming operation unless we expressly agree in writing to provide that specific paid Service.

We are not responsible under this voluntary warranty for damage caused by incorrect, negligent, unauthorised or unlawful programming or use. This does not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or loss caused by our own breach or negligence where applicable.

6. How to make a warranty claim

Contact us with your Order Number, product identity and serial number where applicable, a clear description of the problem and any relevant vehicle or software details.

We may reasonably ask for photographs, video, screenshots, logs, error messages, software versions, VIN information or basic troubleshooting before requiring a return. This helps distinguish a product defect from a vehicle, configuration, software or connectivity issue.

Reasonable troubleshooting will not be used to remove a statutory right or unreasonably delay a valid remedy.

Do not send Goods to our registered office unless we expressly instruct you to do so. We will provide the appropriate service or return address where a physical inspection is required.

7. Inspection and no-fault-found cases

We may inspect, test, reset or update returned Goods where reasonably necessary to diagnose the reported issue. We may also verify serial numbers, firmware, Activation records, physical condition and supplied accessories.

If reasonable testing does not identify a manufacturing defect, we will explain the outcome where appropriate. A no-fault-found warranty result does not remove any separate statutory right or eligible change-of-mind return right.

Where no warranty or statutory remedy applies, we may require payment of a reasonable direct redelivery cost before returning the product where lawful. We will not impose an arbitrary inspection penalty for a good-faith claim.

8. Warranty replacements and repaired products

A repaired or replacement product supplied under this voluntary warranty does not create a new statutory-right period. The voluntary warranty on the repaired or replacement product will continue for the remainder of the original voluntary warranty period or any longer period we expressly confirm.

If we provide an advance replacement on condition that the original product is returned, the original product must be returned in accordance with our instructions. You do not acquire a right to retain both products unless we expressly agree.

9. Return carriage for warranty claims

Where the law requires us to bear reasonable return costs for non-conforming Goods, we will do so in accordance with our Returns & Refunds Policy.

For a claim made solely under this voluntary warranty, return-carriage arrangements will be those we provide or approve. Please contact us before sending the product so that we can identify the correct method and address.

If you choose an unnecessarily premium or more expensive service without our prior agreement, we are not required to reimburse the additional cost except where the law requires otherwise.

10. Data, accounts, licences and Activation

Repair, replacement, reset or testing may erase stored data, settings or vehicle records. Remove personal or confidential information and make backups where reasonably possible before sending equipment to us.

Some Digital Licences, subscriptions, manufacturer registrations and online entitlements are governed by separate licence terms. Physical-product warranty replacement does not guarantee that a third-party licence can be transferred where the licence owner lawfully prevents transfer, although we will not use this clause to remove a statutory remedy that applies to the supplied digital element.

11. Liability and statutory rights

This voluntary warranty does not cover consequential or business losses merely because a product requires warranty service, except where we are legally liable for those losses under a rule that cannot be excluded or under the applicable Contract.

Nothing in this warranty excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, mandatory product liability, statutory consumer rights or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

For Business Customers, any contractual limits and exclusions in the Terms of Sale also apply to the extent lawful and reasonable.
